Two types of elder?????
by chuckyy inits my experience after actually being an elder for a number of years that there are in fact...two types of elder.. type 1....genuine, actually cares about the people in the congregation and wasn't actually bothered too much if he became an elder or not.. type 2....very legalistic, cares more about organizational laws rather than people and lacks compassion and empathy.
this type is more of a spiritual policeman.
he wanted desperately to be an elder and now that he is, he loves the sense of power and prestige.. this has been my experience and if there are more type 2 elders on a body, the results can be disastrous.. what has been your experience???

Appreciating Our Spiritual paradise" or something like that...
I think the title was "Our Paradise - Present and Future" , but I could be wrong.
Does anybody remember the old 33 1/3rd records from the pink songbook? I still have my copies somewhere.
I remember the intro to song 88 which was Walking in Integrity. Always sounded like an orchestra warming up to me.
Please Judge me Lord
My Lord Jehovah God
In you I trust and In
Integrity I trod
Examine me
and put me to the test
My Mind and Heart refine
That my soul might be blessed.
But AAAASSSS for Meeeeeee
Deterimined I shall be
Too walk eternally
In My Integrity
I do not sit, with wicked men of lies
I hate the company, of those who truth despise
With evil men
Take not away my Life
My soul with those who's hands
Are full of Bribes and strife.
But AAAASSSS for meeee........ect.
For I have loved, the dwelling of your house
Your worship oh so pure
I daily will espouse (?????)
and I will march around your alter grand
to make thanksgiving heard
Aloud throughout the land.
But AAAASSSS for Meeeeeeeee ect...I think that's the only song I remember all three verses by heart. I always liked this song for some reason.

What memories does this song bring back?
by wordlywife inthe archie's in 1969 "sugar sugar"?
for me it was all about being a kid, summertime, ice cream and the a & w drive in for a hot dog & root beer.
i hear it on the drive home yesterday and turned it way up.

After re-reading this thread. The song reminded me of sitting on the floor in front of the TV after school watching the Archie's cartoon show on Channel 5 playing this song. Betty on the Tamborine, Veronica on the Keyboards, Jughead on the drums, Archie and Reggie on guitar (?) and that stupid dog conducting.
Why do I remember all that??
Ah....another old question...who was cuter? Betty or Veronica.

Oh man....That just reminds me of when I was a kid at the Beach down the Jersey shore in the summertime.
The hot sand and hot boardwalk, the smell of salt water taffy, crunchy hot dogs and crunchy hamburgers (because of the sand). Every radio on the beach tuned into "77.... WABC".
Wow, that was a long time ago...

Oh Jah, you've been our place of Dwelling
In all the Generations Past.
something something something
Our years are 70 or 80......
something something something.or
Fleas to God's kingdom the hope of mankind.
Firm for his rule take your stand (take your stand)
There you will find God's protection and blessing
Hasten to lead his command (his command)or
Jehovah is our refuge
our God in whom we trust
His shadow, is our shelter
abide in it we must
For he himself will rescue you
from pestalince and trappers too
Jehovah is our refuge
A haven for all the just (???? I think)or
When Irish eye's are smiling......Oh wait...

New songbook? ...It's about time.
by truth_about_the_truth ini saw this on another thread that there are rumours of a new songbook announced at the dc.
i hope they get rid of all those "heav'ns", "giv'n", "tho", "e'en", "vivacious", "efficacious" lyrics.
with thise lyrics you can party like it's 1899.. also, please get rid of that song that sounds like the warner bros. bugs bunny song.

Didn't that go....How pleasant to see brothers, all dwell in unity....
There is a poster here, I believe it was Farkel, who is really an accomplished keyboardist, had a great rendition of that song. I wish I still had the link to that.

Would the closest airport be Heathrow?
Never been to the UK before. I think it would be a wonderful experience. I guess I would have to learn how to drive on the "wrong" side of the road. (hehehe)
